FAQs

How can I purchase prescription medication? Do I need a prescription?

Yes. Prescription medications require a valid prescription from your veterinarian.

Most vets are happy to provide a written prescription if the medication is appropriate for your pet. A small consultation or prescription fee may apply.

How do I send my prescription?

You can upload a clear photo or scan of your prescription at checkout.

After placing your order, please post or drop off the original prescription to:

PET FURMACY @ Centree Health Pharmacy
REPLY PAID 94681
DOCKLANDS VIC 3008

No stamp is required.

We can also include a Reply Paid envelope with your first order so you can easily mail the original prescription back to us.

Important: If we do not receive your original prescription within 21 days of purchase, a $30 fee may be charged to recover the prescription from your vet.

Can I purchase prescription medication without a prescription?

No. Under Australian law, prescription pet medications require a valid prescription from an Australian-registered veterinarian.

We cannot supply prescription items without a valid prescription.

What happens if I place an order without uploading a prescription?

By placing an order, you acknowledge that prescription items require a valid veterinary prescription.

If you place an order without uploading a prescription, you authorise us to contact you or your veterinarian to obtain and verify it on your behalf.

A $3 verification and processing fee applies. Your order may also be delayed while we complete this process.

We reserve the right to cancel any order that does not meet legal or safety requirements.

How long does a prescription last?

Most prescriptions are valid for up to 12 months from the date of issue.

Your prescription will usually state its expiry date, number of repeats, or the maximum quantity of medication that can be supplied.

Can I get my pet’s medication compounded?

Yes. We can arrange compounded medications according to your pet’s prescription.

Please email your prescription to info@petfurmacy.com.au, and our team will be in touch.

What if I can’t find the medication on your website?

Please email us at info@petfurmacy.com.au with the medication you are looking for.

We may be able to source it or arrange for it to be compounded into a suitable formulation or flavour to help with palatability.

Do you keep prescription repeats on file?

Yes. Once we receive your original prescription, we will keep it on file until all repeats have been used or the prescription expires.

This makes reordering easier next time.

We will also send you a reminder when your pet’s medication is running low or when a new prescription may be needed.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes, but please contact us as soon as possible.

Email us at info@petfurmacy.com.au with your order details.

We process orders quickly, so there may only be a short window before your order is packed or dispatched. The sooner you contact us, the easier it is for us to help.

Can I request a return or refund?

Over-the-counter products

For over-the-counter products, change-of-mind returns may be accepted within 14 days of receiving your order, provided the item is unopened, unused, and in its original packaging.

Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility.

Once the returned item has been received and checked, we will refund the product cost, excluding postage, within 14 working days.

Prescription medications

For safety reasons, we cannot accept returns or refunds for prescription medications once they have been supplied.

This is to protect the quality, safety, and integrity of the medication.

Can I speak to a veterinarian?

You can email us if you have questions about your order or prescription medication.

Please note that we do not provide second opinions, referrals, or veterinary consultations through our online store.

Can my vet send the prescription directly to Pet Furmacy?

Yes. Your vet can email the prescription directly to us at info@petfurmacy.com.au

What happens if my prescription is expired or has no repeats left?

If your prescription has expired or all repeats have been used, we cannot supply more medication until a new valid prescription is provided.

We recommend contacting your vet early to avoid running out of your pet’s medication.

What if my pet has a reaction or side effect?

Please contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet has a reaction, side effect, or if you are concerned about their medication.

For urgent symptoms, contact your nearest emergency vet hospital.
